Nick enjoyed hunting and fishing, vegetable gardening, cultivating his fig trees, and cooking his wife's Italian recipes for egg plant and lasagna.
OBITUARY
WESTFIELD - Nicholas Ficarra, age 87, of Villa Drive, Westfield, NY, died Monday night, January 4, 2010 at Absolut Care of Westfield following a brief illness.
Nick was born on May 18, 1922 in Portland, NY, the son of the late Joseph and Angeline (Cremi) Ficarra.
He served with the US Army Air Corp from 1942 until 1945, in the European Theater, including, Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. He retired from Renold, Inc. as a Machinist in 1987 after 32 years of service.
Mr. Ficarra was a member of Lakeshore Assembly of God where he had been very active as Sunday School Superintendant.
Nick enjoyed hunting and fishing, vegetable gardening, cultivating his fig trees, and cooking his wife's Italian recipes for egg plant and lasagna. He was a member of the Westfield Fish and Game Club, the Wm. P Jackway Post 6764 VFW, the Loyal Order Of Moose Lodge # 118, and the Renold Retiree Assoc., all of Westfield and the Italian-American Assoc. of Chautauqua County.
He is survived by his daughter, Judith Ann Cochran and his son, Daniel L. Ficarra both of Westfield, his three grandsons, Michael N. Cochran and Daniel J. Ficarra both of Westfield, and Ryan Ficarra of Jamestown, as well as his two great grandchildren, Michael Cochran and KiraBella Ficarra. Nick is further survived by his three sisters: Mary Conti of St. Petersburg, FL, Antoinette Giamo, of Brunswick, OH, and Theresa Jordan of Akron, OH, and his one brother: Al Ficarra also of Akron, OH.
He was preceded in death by his Wife, Phyllis LaPorte Ficarra, whom he married on April 24, 1949 in Westfield and who died on January 29, 1986, and by his sister Sarah Ficarra, his brother, John Ficarra, and his Infant twin brother Anthony.
Friends may call Friday from__________________________ at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY, and are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday at 11:00AM at Lakeshore Assembly of God, 252 East Main Street, Westfield with Rev. Vincent Sanzo officiating. Burial will be in Westfield Cemetery.
