Obituary of Catherine A. Tozzi

Westfield, NY- Catherine A. (Hansen) Tozzi, age 97, of E. Main St., Westfield, NY, died Saturday, November 6th, 2010 at her home. Catherine was born June 12th, 1913 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Bernard and Mary (Byrnes) Hansen. Before moving to Westfield Katie was a long time resident of Poughkeepsie, NY. She also resided in Austin, TX, Perth Amboy, NJ, and Jamestown, NY making many friends along the way. Katie retired from Dutchess Community College in the 1980s where she worked in the cafeteria. She also was a volunteer at Round Rock Hospital in Austin, TX for many years. She loved attending the Chautauqua Adult Day Care Centers in Jamestown and Westfield and even got her 15 minutes of fame when she was featured on the home page of their website. http://seniordayprograms.com/. After seniors she would love to read the newspaper especially the funnies, do crossword puzzles, crochet, and was an avid reader of novels. She loved spending time and celebrating life with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her many friends. She is survived by her two daughters: Barbara LaPolt of Westfield, NY and Mary Ann R. Decker of Cedar Park, TX. Catherine is further survived by her three grandsons, Kevan (Jacqueline) M. Decker of Austin, TX, Gordon (Rosemary) E. Decker of Round Rock, TX, and Robert S. Jesionek, Jr. of Boynton Beach, FL and her three granddaughters, Eileen (James) Thomas of Westfield, NY, Monica (Albert Walgreen) LaPolt of Indianapolis, IN, Kristie Jesionek-Brewton of Nashville, TN. Six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virginio (Arthur) Tozzi, her daughter, Virginia Jesionek, and her brother, Andrew Hansen. No calling hours will be observed. Friends and family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Thursday morning, Nov. 11, 2010 at 10 AM at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, South Hamilton St., Poughkeepsie, NY. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
