To the Sciarrino family I extend my condolences. Early in life, your father was my grade school principal. At that time I addressed him as "Mr. Sciarrino". After I went on into adulthood, I felt comfortable to address him as "Tom", fellow SU alumni. Your father was a very fine man - I will miss him.(BTW... when I got married 22 years ago, my wife Kelly and I wanted to have a very private wedding with only family. Tom and Betty were among the very few non-family members invited to our wedding. Betty made our wedding cake).Take care and God bless.Mark Riforgiat

To the Sciarino Family:Julie and I send our sincerest condolences. Your father was an outstanding gentleman, educator and friend. We had many intense and fruitful discussions about educational issues during my tenure. He always had the student's interests as his number one priority. His legacy will be his children and grandchildren. I taught most of his children who without a doubt had his sense of decency, family and community. I think of you all often and will include you in our prayers. Thank you for sharing your father and grandfather with us.

Dear Sciarrino family,I was so sorry to read about the death of your father. I knew him from doing my practice teaching at Brocton and then later at the newsroom in Westfield. All of your family was so wonderful to both my mom and dad when they were alive. I will never forget your kindness. Please remember what a wonderful man your dad was and know that he is at peace. Dear Sciarrino Family, Our loss is Heaven's gain! Those were my first thoughts about your dad's passing. My second thought was that my dad, Anthony Clemens, and Mr. Sciarrino have already shared their first poker game! My third thought was remembering being interviewed for the Brocton job in 1979 in your backyard..that is how Mr. Sciarrino was! I have very, very fond and respectful memories of your dad. He always felt like an extension of my own father, and believe me that was a good thing! My thoughts are with you at this time. I am sure the memory discussions in your homes are plentiful and rich. Enjoy them, remember them and take the time to listen when other want to speak of your dad. You will always remember what people say. My dad has been deceased since 1983, and I still read the cards..wonderful stuff! God Bless, Most Sincerely, Joan Loewer

Audrey and I were very saddened at the news of Tom's death. We met Tom and Betty in Avoca, NY in 1959 when I began teaching and he was the Elem. Principal. What a sweet, thoughtful, kind man. One of a kind. Unfortunately, I bet against him on every Syracuse football game, the year they were the national champions. He enjoyed winning the bet more than the dollar he won!Tom was one of my heroes in education and in life. RIP Tom, a job well done and a rest well deserved. We love you! Bob and Audrey Niver

Tommy made all of us who were related to him proud-- as an athlete, a scholar, a teacher and administrator, and, most important, as an exemplary human being. We are diminished by his passing, but it seems God needed an old-school Sicilian to add some spice to heaven. Buona fortuna, cugino mio.
