Obituary of LaVonne K. Reed

RIPLEY, NY - LaVonne K. (Kerr) Reed, age 78, of West Main Street, Ripley, NY formerly of Grove City, PA, died Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at UPMC Hamot Medical Center, in Erie, Pennsylvania. LaVonne was born on March 5, 1932 in Boyers, PA, the daughter of the late Clyde and Ruth (Kelly) Kerr. A resident of Ripley for more than 20 years, she had been employed by the Grove City Area Schools as a Custodian prior to her retirement. She loved quilting and was an expert quilter and seamstress. LaVonne was an excellent cook, canner, cleaner and gardener. However, her family was the love of her life. Mrs. Reed was a member of The First Baptist Church of Ripley where she was a very active member, who cleaned the church and who enjoyed planting flowers to beautify the Church grounds. Survivors include her daughter, Ruth L. (Don) DeMarco of Sharon, PA and her three sons: Robert P. Herrle of Elbert, CO, Jerry F. Herrle of Wilderville, OR, and Cris A. Reed of Ripley, NY. 14 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren also survive. LaVonne is further survived by her siblings, Sandra Snyder, Sally Buckley, Karen Rausch, Ed, Clyde, Larry and Donald Kerr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold W. Reed, her daughter, Cindy D. Tessmer, her two sisters Charlotte Shaw and Loretta Schaffer and her brother, Wayne Kerr. Friends may call on Friday, February 4, 2011, from 3:30 PM until 7:30 PM at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY, and are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday morning, February 5, 2011at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Ripley, 9869 East Side Hill Rd., Ripley, NY, with Rev.
