Obituary of Gene Hannah Bunnell

WESTFIELD - Gene Hannah (Hankel) Bunnell, age 84, of Beckman Ave., Westfield, formerly of Lawtons, NY, died Saturday, February 19, 2011 at home. Gene was born on June 28, 1926 in Westfield, NY, the daughter of the late Alfred W. and Hazel (Higgs) Hankel. He predeceased her 1995. Born and raised in Westfield, she had relocated to Lawtons, NY where she raised her 8 Children. She had been employed as a Registered Nurse at the former Gowanda State Hospital and came back to Westfield about 20 years ago to tend to her mother during her illness. She enjoyed plants and flowers. She like knitting and was an accomplished crochet artist. Mrs. Bunnell had attended the First Baptist Church of Westfield. She is survived by her four daughters: Ann E. Bunnell of Hamburg, NY, Mary (Robert) E. Wheelwright of Amherst, NY, Kathleen (Greg) Korotkow of Garland, TX, Sandra L. Lloyd of Rochester, MN and her four sons: Wayne E. (Pattyjo) Bunnell of Lawtons, NY, William Bunnell of NY, Albert C. (Karen) Bunnell of Virginia Beach, VA, and Lorne (JoAnn) Bunnell of Saegertown, PA. 11 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren also survive. Friends may call on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 from 3-6 PM at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY, where Funeral Services will be held on Thursday morning at 11 AM.
