Obituary of Anne R. Groff
Anne R. Groff, 92, of Mayville, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 while residing in Painted Post, NY.
She was born on January 25, 1930 in Westfield, the daughter of the late Karl and Kathleen (Cady) Rosel.
Anne’s four children were her pride and joy. She is survived by her sons; Andrew (Carol) Johnson of Malvern, OH and Timothy (Linda) Johnson of Westfield; her daughters, Natalie (Edward) Bellando of Mayville, NY and Judith (Jack) Huth of Painted Post, NY.
She is also survived by her twelve beloved grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren whom she loved to help and watch grow.
She was predeceased by her husband Peter L. Groff and two sisters and brother-in-laws, Jean (Ross) Hayner and Sue (Donald) Loeb.
Anne was a graduate of Westfield Academy and Central School and completed courses at Jamestown Community College and SUNY Fredonia.
Anne was a reporter and feature write for the Westfield Republican and the Evening Observer. She became a real estate broker in 1980 and spent many productive years as a realtor. She was an avid reader and artist.
When her husband retired as superintendent at Lake Erie State Park, where they resided for many years, they built a home in Mayville, NY and continued to enjoy many years in their woodland retreat, which became the family gathering place.
The family suggests memorial contributions in Anne’s memory to the Patterson Library, 4 S. Portage St, Westfield , NY 14787 or to a library of your choice.
Friends may call at the Mason Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St. Westfield, NY on Monday, November 28, 2022 from 1-3 PM , where a service will be held at 3:00 PM. Burial will be private in the Portland Evergreen Cemetery.
