WESTFIELD - Edith Mae (Barger) Maggio, age 92, a resident of the Absolut of Westfield, formerly of Sampson St., Jamestown, died Monday November 5, 2012 at home following a long fought battle with lung cancer, Edith was born in Ripley, NY on June 16, 1920 a daughter of the late Earl E. and Catherine Hartson Barger. She was a graduate of Ripley Central School and had belonged to the Ripley Presbyterian Church. Edith was a self employed beautician having had her beauty shop at her home on Sampson St. for many years, She was an accomplished cook who mastered Italian cooking. She is survived by her brother, Donald E. Barger of Ripley and many nieces and nephews. Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Maggio in 1983, her son, Earl E. Gordon in 1993 and by her two brothers, Earl E. Barger, Jr., and Robert L. Barger as well as her two sisters, Dorothy Pelow and Enora Genley. Honoring Edith's request to donate her body to science, a memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, PO Box 631, Buffalo, NY 14240. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St., Westfield, NY.
