WESTFIELD - Julia E. "Judy" (Robins) Chapman, age 88, of Bliss St., Westfield, died Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Brooks Memorial Hospital of Dunkirk, NY.
"Judy" was born on February 8, 1925 in Westfield, NY, the daughter of the late George Albert and Anna Belle (Saunders) Robins.
She was a 1943 graduate of Westfield Academy where she excelled in business classes. Judy had been the office manager for the former WT Grant Store in Westfield for many years. She had also been the office manager for the Westfield Republican and then in 1979 she became the Treasurer for Westfield Academy and Central Schools, where she worked for over 20 years until her retirement in 2000. She enjoyed knitting and had knitted many hats, mittens, scarves and sweaters for all of her family and many community children as well. She was an avid reader of mystery novels. Family was extremely important to Judy; she greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was quick to express her opinions whether you agreed with her or not. She was a member of the John W. Rogers Post 327 American Legion Auxiliary, and the Chautauqua County Assoc. of Educational Office Professionals as well as a former member Women of The Moose Chapter 517.
She is survived by her son, Terry A. Chapman and by her daughter, Becky (Steve) Reynolds both of Westfield, NY. Judy also has three grandchildren, William (Anita) Chapman of Bel Air, MD, Dana Reynolds of Westfield, NY, and SFC Kevin (Crystal) Reynolds, US ARMY of Buffalo, NY. She is further survived by her 4 great grandchildren, Kayli Erin Reynolds and Kyle Andrew Reynolds both of Buffalo, NY, and Rachel McCarthy and Lauren McCarthy both of Bel Air, MD.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice T. Chapman, whom she married on September 18, 1943 and who died on June 20, 1992, as well as by her 3 brothers Earl, Harold and Harry Robins, and by her sister, Elgie Robins.
Friends may call at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St., Westfield, NY on Monday afternoon, October 21 from 3 PM until the time of the Funeral Services there at 4 PM with the Rev. Byron Lutz, officiating. Burial will be private in Union Cemetery.
