Obituary of Josephine L. Alonge

WESTFIELD - Josephine L. (Amoroso) Alonge, age 93, of the Town of Greece, NY and formerly of 27 Holt Street, Westfield, NY died Thursday, November 28, 2013 at Monroe Community Hospital in Rochester, NY. Josephine was born on July 31, 1920 in Dunkirk, NY, the daughter of the late Carmelo and Grace (Baglione) Amoroso. Josephine graduated from Beauty School in Buffalo and for a short time worked as a beautician in Dunkirk, prior to coming to Westfield in 1940. She had also been employed by the Westfield Republican and Welch foods of Westfield. She was a longtime Elections Inspector in Westfield and had volunteered at Westfield Memorial Hospital as a Gray Lady. Josephine was a member of St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church of Westfield and a life member of the St. Dominic Parish Altar and Rosary Society. She loved her Church community and was always active in Church events, such as the annual Spaghetti dinner. She is survived by one daughter: Judith Abballe and her husband John, and her son: Paul N. Alonge, Sr. and his wife, Rose Mary all of Greece, NY. 5 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren and 1 great great grandddaughter also survive, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Samuel J. Alonge, whom she married on Nov. 30, 1940 and who died on June 1, 1980, and by her three brothers, Frank, Anthony and Piere' Amoroso, and by her 2 sisters, Bessie Amoroso and Jennie Ameno. Friends may call on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY, from 11 Am until the time of Funeral Services there at 2 PM with Father Joseph Walter officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. A parish Rosary Service will be held at the Funeral Home at 11:15 AM on Tuesday.
