Obituary of Frances A Dyment

Frances A. Dyment, 87, of Fredonia died January 26, 2016 at Saint Mary's at Asbury Ridge in Erie following a brief illness.
She was born April 19, 1928 in Dunkirk, the daughter of the late Frank and Josephine (Cash) Vacanti.
A resident of the area her entire life, Mrs. Dyment had been employed in Dunkirk as Secretary of the United Steelworkers local office. After taking time off to raise her children, she worked for 20 years at the New York State Department of Labor as an employment interviewer. She retired in 1995.
A deeply religious woman, Mrs. Dyment was an active parishioner of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Fredonia. She was involved in religious education instruction and she served as a Eucharistic Minister. Frances would travel throughout Fredonia delivering Communion to those unable to attend church services.
Frances spent a great deal of time volunteering at the former Chautauqua County Home as well as St. Columbian's on the Lake. She was a former member of the Dunkirk-Fredonia Business Women's Organization. Mrs. Dyment was also a member of the New York State Retired Employees Association.
In her spare time, Frances enjoyed reading and spending time with her children.
Survivors include her son, Robert (Wendy) Dyment of Westfield and her daughter Anne (Tom Kling) Dyment of Fredonia. She is further survived by her sister, Mary (late Charles) Sevola of Orchard Park, and her brother, Salvatore (late Joyce) Vacanti of Kissimmee Florida and Fredonia. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H. Robert Dyment who died in January, 2002, an infant son, Henry Gordon who died in 1960, her brothers Steven and Charles Vacanti, and her nephew James Vacanti.
There will be no calling hours and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be private.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Fredonia Fire Department or the Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue, North Gale Street, Westfield, New York 14787
