Obituary of Dorothy B. Gorenflo

WESTFIELD - Dorothy B. (Kelly) Gorenflo, age 94, of Westfield, died Sunday, August 28, 2016 at Absolut Care of Westfield in Westfield, NY, following an extended illness. Dorothy was born on August 5, 1922 in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of the late Thomas and Agnes (McGoldrick) Kelly. Born and raised in the Buffalo area, Dorothy attended St. John The Evangelist Catholic School and Buffalo PS 70 and was a 1940 graduate of South Park High School. While in Buffalo, she had worked as a Bookkeeper for Merrill-Lynch Investments for many years. She moved to Chautauqua County in 1962 from Hamburg, NY and owned and operated, along with her late husband Harry, the Barcelona Inn from 1962-1964 when it was tragically destroyed by fire. She continued to work as a payroll clerk for the former Barmon Brothers Sewing Factory and as a bookkeeper for the former Crolle's Westfield Agway retiring in 1984. She and Harry also ran the Barcelona Tire Shop until full retirement in 1979. Dorothy was a member of St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church, a life member of the Church's Altar and Rosary Society and a member of the Dill Post American Legion Aux. She was a former member of the WOTM #517. Dorothy loved to read, however, her greatest love was for her family; she doted on her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had an uncanny sense of humor and loved to make others smile. She is survived by her daughter: Mary Ann (Steve) Woleben of Barcelona, NY was well as her two grandchildren, Kimberly Ann (Barry) Underwood of Westfield and Mark S. (Sheila) Woleben of Sanborn, NY; Dorothy was the proud great grandmother of Brandon (Dee) Underwood of Kathleen, GA, Alexander Underwood of Graham, NC, and Matthew and Amanda Woleben of Sanborn. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry Gorenflo who died in 2001. Friends may call at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St., Westfield, NY on Friday evening September 2, 2016 from 6-8 PM and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church, 15 Union Street, Westfield, NY with Fr. Mark Wolski officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery.
