Obituary of Garry E. Palmer

WESTFIELD - Garry E. Palmer, age 70, of Westfield, died Monday, September 5, 2016 at home in Westfield. Garry was born on March 27, 1946 in Mayville, NY, a son of the late Raymond and the late Pauline (Andersen) Palmer. Garry attended Brocton High Schools and enlisted in the US Army in 1963 and served in Korea and Italy. He returned to Chautauqua County and worked at Red Wing and Kraft Foods for several years. Garry then worked for the Grapes of Ross Grape Farm in Westfield for many years and had also worked for various other grape farmers including Glenn Laurie and Roy Orton until his ultimate retirement. He had been a lifelong fan of the Cardinal's Football team. He was a self taught accomplished musician, who loved to play his guitar and sing. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking and wood carving. He learned to enjoy oil painting. Garry was a survivor of Polio and while sick, he learned to crochet and had crocheted many baby blankets for his children and grandchildren. He was a history buff, local history, early American history, Native American history and family history. He had many hobbies and likes; however, his main love was for his family. He is survived by his wife: Judith A. (Farnham) Palmer, his daughter: Heidi (Jared) Villella of Warren, PA and his two sons: Brian (Penny) Palmer of Yelm, WA and Scot (Kathy Webber) Palmer of Westfield. Garry was the proud grandfather of, Tina, Stacy, Dusti, Jordan, Bianca and Charli and great grandfather of Ashton. He is further survived by his three brothers, Lonnie Palmer of Brocton, NY, Rodger Palmer of Florida and Gale Palmer of Stockton, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Garry's life at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Moose Beach, West Lake Road, Westfield, NY. All other services will be private.
