So sorry to hear of Selden's passing. I have great memories of driving from my Fredonia dormitory down Persons St. to the house, nestled in the grape fields. Selden was such a straight shooter; honest, patriotic, hard working and principled. I soon learned not to call on him during the hour Paul Harvey was on the radio! He quickly and enthusiastically took to locksmithing, and became a great presence in the market, and a very good customer, and friend. May he rest in peace.

I was so sad to hear about this. He was a very good man. Its brought back so many memories, especially racing back to the house for Paul Harvey and a bologna sandwich for lunch. I still treasure the time I spent and the things I learned. My thoughts and condolences are with all of you....

My heart aches for all of you over the loss of Selden, your husband, your father and your grandfather. He was always very special to me in my younger years before I moved to Alaska. I remember the Thunderbird and an 18 min ride from Jamestown to Westfield; the stools he made to use for currant picking; the 2 trips to town every day in his young years( he got to drive his dad's old pick up) to bring soda pop to the migrant workers in the currant field; the day he came home from France-but he wouldn't speak any French; and an award he'd gotten for not having a driving accident in 8 years of chauffer driving for the military elite; for the first color tv; and having a bathroom built downstairs in the house for his parents; But best of all when he and Marcia came walking into Gramma Wethli's kitchen announcing their elopement and marriage. Selden married Marcia Ormsby?! Wow we hadn't a clue of the romance. They were a wonderful pair-she being a great addition to our family.
As my fond memories of long ago come back to my mind I send you all my love and my sympathy for your loss. Know you're thought of at this time. Sincerely, your niece and cousin Kathleen Wethli Nelson

Dear Marcia, Gail, and Tricia - I was so sorry to hear of Uncle Seldon's passing. He was part of many of my childhood memories in Westfield. My favorite was the time he built a snowman right outside the window at grandma's house when I wasn't allowed to go outside because it was too cold. Years later, when we brought our baby daughter up to Westfield to meet her great grandmothers, Seldon graciously spent an afternoon with us, walking around the farm, the barn, and the "big house" - it was such a treat for Daryl and I. I know that each of you have many more wonderful memories of him, and I pray that they will be a comfort to you now.

Hey Marcia...so sorry to hear about Selden. I can't believe time has marched on so quickly. It seems like yesterday with Dr. Habig and the weddings for the girls. Hope you and the girls are doing well at this time of loss...Roy Newman

Marcia and girls,
I am so very sorry for your loss. Through the fire department, I knew Seldon, and always thought very highly of him for his dedication. He is resting now and I hope that brings you some peace. May God keep you in His loving arms during this difficult time.
