Obituary of Lois K. Poletto Lindstrom

WESTFIELD - Lois K. (Haslow) Poletto Lindstrom, age 93, of Westfield, died Friday,
September 1, 2017 at Absolut Care of Westfield following an extended illness.
Lois was born on March 13, 1924 in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of the late Milton and Henrietta (Olskey) Haslow. .
She married Michael Poletto on March 2, 1946 in Buffalo and moved to Westfield in 1948. Lois had work for about 35 years for several Westfield Main Street retail stores that included, the Vine City Dairy, The Outdoor Store, which she had also managed, the former Ben Franklin, Wiengart's Hardware and lastly for Al's Home and Hardware. She had also been employed by the former Barmon Brothers Sewing Factory. Lois was a longtime member of the former St. James Major Catholic Church, now known as St. Dominic Parish and had been an active member of the Parish's Altar and Rosary Society, serving on almost every committee and having held the office of Secretary and served twice as President.
Lois was also very active in her community, serving as an Elections Inspector and volunteering at the Westfield Memorial Hospital as a "Grey Lady". She was also one of the founders and 56 year member of "the mothers' friendship club".
She is survived by her daughter: Kathleen (Michael) Ricketts of Mayville, NY and her two sons: Russell Poletto of Flushing, NY and Michael (Jennifer) Poletto of Westfield, Lois is further survived by her six grandchildren, Jenell (Gregg) Long of Ashville, NY, Melanie (Shawn Canfield) Ricketts of Angola, NY, Chelsea, Ashley, Emily and Mike Poletto all of Westfield, NY; as well as her 4 Great Grandchildren, Evan Rudewicz and Gabriella Ricketts of Angola, NY; and Jaime and Giana Long of Ashville, NY.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, Michael Poletto who died in 1962, and by her brother, Donald Haslow who died in 2007.
Friends may call on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY from 12 noon until 2 PM. A Funeral Service will follow in the Funeral Home at 2 PM with Fr. Romeo Hontiveros officiating. Private burial will be in St. James Cemetery.
A Parish Rosary service will be offered at the Funeral Home at 12 noon on Saturday.
Lois requested no flowers. She suggested that memorials may be made to the Westfield Memorial Hospital Foundation, 189 E. Main St. or to St. Dominic Parish Altar and Rosary Society, 15 Union St., both in Westfield, NY 14787.
