My sincere sympathy to Mary Jane and Scott. Syd was a lifelong friend; our grandmothers were next door neighbors on Stowe Street and I spent many a happy hour there visiting Ide,Norma, Aunt Ruth and Uncle Lester. I kept track of Syd through their stories before he moved back to Chautauqua County.
To say he loved Chautauqua Lake was an understatement and we became closer friends because I shared his passion. He lent Jane Currie and me his treasure trove of photos which formed the basis of several of our Arcadia Publishing books. He and Mary Jane literally built bookshelves in MY basement for them so we could work at my home!
Syd always had a twinkle in his eye, a little devilish evenwhen I last visited him at Heritage Park. And he was seldom at a loss for words.
I will miss you, my friend.
