Henry A. “Hank’ Lynn Jr.
July 17, 1942- July 7, 2022
Henry A. “Hank” Lynn Jr. of Greenville, SC formerly of Westfield, NY passed away unexpectedly on
Thursday evening, July 7, 2022 at the WVU Summersville Regional Medical Center after an accident
causing a fall and breaking his hip, he was on his way back to Westfield.
As many of you knew Hank or Mr. Lynn as some of you still called him, you knew he had a quick smile
and a wonderful laugh that came easy and often. We know he is at peace now reunited with the love of
his life and all the other family and friends at the Lord’s table.
He was born in Erie, Pa., the son of the late Henry A. Sr. and Eva D. Lynn.
He is survived
by his two loving children, Julie (Patrick) Murphy of Woodbine, NJ and Skip Lynn of Greenville, SC; a
cherished grandson, Justin Murphy.
Hank is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara R. Lynn and a brother, Harold Lynn.
Hank graduated from Northeast High School in 1960, he continued his studies at Edinboro University,
where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, majoring in math. He furthered his education at the
University of South Carolina receiving a Master’s Degree in Education.
Hank started working as a teacher at the Westfield Academy and Central School in 1964. He taught 7 th
grade Math then moved up to teaching 9 th grade Math. Hank completed his career as the Department
Chair in Math, retiring in 2002 with 38 years of service.
Hank was an integral part of the WACS. He conceptualized starting a wrestling program at WACS
because there wasn’t one available. He started the program in 1968, acting as the coach and advisor
until 1982 and was athletic director from 1981 until retirment. He attended all the sporting events and
supporting both the boys and girls in their athletic and academic endeavors.
Hank was very active in the Westfield community especially in Kiwanis where he held many positions.
After retirement he continued working at WACS as a substitute teacher in Math and also Co-Chaired the
Scholar- Athletic Program for WACS.
In his free time he enjoyed traveling and gardening. He loved to grow vegetables to share with his
neighbors.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation. There will be a Celebration of Hank’s
Life at the Noble Winery, 8630 Hardscrabble Rd, Westfield from 2-6 PM on Sunday, July 17, 2022. This is
a festive occasion where we can share stories and talk about good times.
